Issue 2 | Feature brought to you by Baan Siri
Primrose Hill, Pattaya; A Suburban “Pleasantville”
When you imagine your picture-perfect home, whether it’s one you’ll raise children in, grow up in, or grow old in… what do you see?
For different cultures and different peoples, the vision will vary. At least in many Western cultures, that vision stereotypically includes the image of a nice, clean house soaking up the sunshine in the late afternoon; warm light bouncing off the surrounding trees and the fresh cut grass just outside the window. Perhaps the sound of water splashing in the distance from a neighbour’s child playfully jumping off a dock, and the smell of dinner cooking in the kitchen would add on to the ideal moment.
It’s a simple and down-to-earth vision, really. But it’s the kind of vision that inspires feelings of nostalgia, comfort, and safety. The kind of feelings it takes to turn a house into a home.
In Thailand, this dreamy, Western “Pleasantville” is not so simple to find. The fact of the matter here is that the landscape looks and feels different to what many expats are used to. The way neighbourhoods and communities function can be quite foreign as well. However, beginning this year the search for the ultimate suburban oasis will become much easier, as a new development company will be taking its first step into the Thai marketplace with exactly the kind of properties mentioned above.
Thailand, meet Baan Siri.
Boutique, distinctive and high-end properties will be the focus of Baan Siri Co. Ltd., which having recognized the lack of quintessential Western-style suburbs has decidedly created a uniquely tailored development; Primrose Hill, Pattaya.
Quietly nestled in a forest clearing near the foot of Chonburi’s mountains, Primrose Hill will be conveniently located just a 15 minute drive from Pattaya. Strategically located one of Thailand’s most up and coming areas, it will be an even shorter distance to attractions like golf courses, botanical gardens and international schools. A new micro-suburb, the development will consist of only 27 one and two storey houses surrounding a large man-made lake, each featuring either a dock with direct lake access or stunning mountain views. These features were not bestowed on each and every house in the development accidentally. Baan Siri is on a mission to become one of the most respected “boutique development” companies in Thailand, and Primrose Hill will set the precedent for the company’s desired reputation. As such, careful consideration was put into not only the layout of the entire neighborhood but into the layout of each home as well, views and usable outdoor space not excluded.
As a boutique development, each property (now available for presale) is currently able to be adapted to the desires of their future owners. Baan Siri will allow presale purchasers the opportunity to browse a curated selection of building materials
– think custom countertops, tile selection and interior design.
Despite this, Baan Siri’s developer and visionaire, Raywat Willard says he is confident that the current designs will be well received, as over six months were spent solely on conceptualizing the project, starting the process by designing the interior first, making sure each and every inch of space is usable and attractive.
While custom-building is often considered one of the greatest benefits for making a presale purchase, Baan Siri has gone above and beyond in making their first development attractive to investors. Offering an already convenient and burgeoning location, flexible construction plans and an in-demand but not-yet-met development type, Primrose Hill’s properties may not be on the market for long. The offered 3-8% off discount doesn’t hurt either.
Tree-lined streets leading up to a custom designed house for a low purchase price does sound quite pleasant, indeed. While in the Western world this type of property, neighborhood and resulting community may be quite common, but in Thailand the new Primrose Hill, Pattaya will certainly be a unique and boutique kind of “Pleasantville.”
