Smart bathroom construction is among the latest innovations for the modern home, reflecting demand from consumers, as well as a cost-saving measure for developers, reports The Nation. For example, listed development firm Pruksa Real Estate began using smart bathrooms, comprised of pre-manufactured units by Japanese suppliers that are subsequently built into residences, early this year.
By using such units, the time required to build and install a bathroom is reduced by more than 30 percent, compared with conventional techniques, thereby saving on material and labour costs. Another benefit is the good quality, thanks to Japanese manufacturing standards. In addition to new construction projects, prefabricated bathrooms are a good solution for renovation projects, as installation is relatively straightforward.
AP (Thailand), another listed development firm, also plans to install smart bathrooms in its new condominiums after its strategic partner, Mitsubishi Estate Group, suggested that they would reduce labour expenses while maintaining high quality. AP chief marketing officer Vitakarn Jantavimol said, “We may use them in 2015, but we will add to the design inside the smart bathroom to match customers’ demands before launching them in our condominium units.”
Meanwhile, Fine Home Co. has chosen the Wako Bathroom Modular System (Wako BMS) to provide improved bathroom facilities in their residential units. Wako BMS is an innovative Japanese bathroom design recently introduced to Thailand that helps reduce costs, improve quality and cut construction time. Citi Resort Group, which manages a chain of serviced apartments, is also implementing Wako BMS in a number of its projects, including Citi Resort Sukhumvit 39 Annex and Citi Resort Sukhumvit 49.
