It’s business as usual in Thailand. Despite the uncertainties surrounding the country’s political situation, Siam Motors Group officially opened its new golf course in Pattaya this week, reports The Bangkok Post.
The new course, Siam Country Club Pattaya Waterside, is the third golf course under the Siam Country Club brand name, in which the group has invested a combined THB 4 billion. Worth THB 1.315 billion, the new 18-hole course measures 7,489 yards on an area of 765 rai. It is located next to the company’s existing 18-hole Siam Country Club Old Course and 27-hole Plantation Course.
“We have placed great emphasis on using the golf industry to attract tourists to play more sport while providing new sporting experiences to professional golfers from all over the world,” commented Phornthep Phornprapha, chairman of Thongthaworn Pattana Co. under Siam Motors Group.
The first company in Thailand to import Japanese cars and heavy machinery, Siam Motors expanded its business into golf several decades ago to meet the needs of tourists as well as Thai and international businessmen, while serving the growth of the domestic golf industry. The company expects its golf business to generate revenues of about THB 600 million a year and produce a compound annual growth rate of 15 percent.
