Samui’s hidden gem filling an enticing gap in the market.

Issue 9 | Feature brought to you by Samui Emerald

It’s truly one of the island’s hidden gems – and that’s a lot more than a cliché.

When it was first envisioned the Samui Emerald development was planned to fill a gap in the market on the island – a gap between low-priced, shoebox condominiums and the high-prices uber-luxury multi-million baht villas. It’s done this – and the fact a number of the 10 villas that occupy the first phase of development have already been sold is evidence of this.

These are what Nick Thatcher, lead agent for Samui Emerald Villas, describes as being mid-range pool villas with three-bedrooms and three-bathrooms that have been designed purely as holiday homes. So for investors, the simple and convenient design works alongside the rental management business to ensure a steady income for buyers.

Samui Emerald Villas are located in the heart of Plai Laem in the north east corner of the island, within a five-minute drive to some of the best beaches and restaurants and 10-minutes to downtown Chaweng, all major supermarkets and the international airport.

The units themselves which start from THB 5.9 million – a modest price indeed for a three-bedroom pool villa on the island – come unfurnished. This allows the buyer the ability to either furnish on their own or take advantage of a service on offer that will assist the buyer to furnish the property to a ready-to-movein state, and this starts from a mere THB 370,000 including electricals.

The development started construction in June and as of the last week in October, the roofs and renderings have been completed. It is hoped to have villa 10 finished before Christmas to use as a show home, and to inspire even more confidence in the minds of the buyers in the second development from the company.

One key man behind Samui Emerald Villas is Managing Director Russell Mansworth, who worked in the London construction industry for 25 years, specialising in steel erection and fabrication. He now works on the Samui Emerald Villas site every day, overseeing building every step or the way. He has been a regular visitor to Koh Samui for more than 16 years and made the move permanent recently to join the Samui Emerald team.

Enquiries for Samui Emerald Villas to date have reflected to growing interest in property investments on the island from around the world, with interest from Asian-based expatriates from Hong Kong and Singapore, as well as potential investors from Australia, Dubai and England. A real cosmopolitan mix.

Completion and handover of units is expected at the end of next year.

In conclusion, some advice and a quote to remember from Thatcher, a comparative veteran of the Thai property industry.

“The most expensive advice you will ever receive is cheap advice. Pay the right money, to the right people, to do the right job.”
