Bangkok’s Metropolitan Administration has unveiled its plan for an extension to the Green Line mass-transit system that will link Bang Wa station with Taling Chan station.
Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra yesterday led members of the press members on a tour of the extension route of the skytrain’s Silom Line (pictured). The planned extension is aimed at easing traffic congestion on Ratchaphruek Road in the Western part of the city and promote tourism and economic affairs in the area, according to the Governor.
The extension route will run north from Bang Wa parallel to Ratchaphruek Road and terminate at Soi Ratchaphruek 24.
According to the Bangkok Governor, construction of the extension route will be commence in 2018 and be completed in 2020. It is expected to serve some 80,000 passengers per day.
Bangkok property developers will no doubt be scouring the planned route for possible land acquisitions over the coming years, given the popularity of properties close to mass-transit connections in the city.
