The Thai government has called its first meeting on its policy to provide a home for every low-income earner, while setting a target for the project to take shape by the middle of next year.
Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prawit Wongsuwon (pictured) convened the sub-committee responsible for helping people with low incomes to have their own homes.
The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment were assigned to bring clarity to the assistance program by mid-2016.
Before chairing the meeting, General Prawit said the project is part of the government’s efforts to narrow social gaps by reaching out to the poor and solving their problems in a systematic and effective manner.
He said cooperation would be sought from all sectors in integrating their work, in a bid to enable the housing project to yield concrete results in the future.
