Thailand’s Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives has started two loan projects for impoverished people in line with the government’s urgent policy to assist them.
Director of The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives Khon Kaen Branch, Thanu Tosatcha, said the government had assigned the bank to operate the two projects targeting low income people.
The first project provides loans for villages and urban communities with the objective to help people access sources of capital to repay informal debts. The second project seeks to develop the quality of life of low-income people in each village and Tambon by providing loans totaling THB 60 billion.
The Village Fund would select qualified villagers to be members of the projects, added the director.
Each person is allowed to borrow up to THB 30,000 depending on the discretion of the Village Fund committee of each village.
