The Thai government has said it is now intent on implementing six economic stimulus measures to boost the economy. This comes on the back of new appointments to the kingdom’s economic team.
Reports indicate that the current economic team has made significant progress with the implementation of the six measures. The team members recently held a meeting to prioritise their remaining obligations before handing on the task to the new team.
High speed trains from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and Bangkok to Hua Hin are among many projects that are being expedited, with construction is expected to begin in February 2017.
The team has also appointed a committee to look into the possibility of extending the free bus service which is due to come to an end on October 31. However the members are considering whether the extension should only be applied to people with low incomes.
