Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra inspected the scene of a fire which broke out at a 10-storey apartment building on Sathorn road, Yannawa district on Friday morning.
The blaze was first spotted on the third floor and quickly spread to other floors.
Several fire engines arrived but faced difficulties putting out the blaze which broke out on the high-rise in Soi Narathiwat 18 at 10.30 a.m. The fire reportedly killed one occupant and injured five others.
After the fire was extinguished, the firefighters rushed to keep the smoke out of the building.
The BMA’s civil engineers are yet to determine whether the fire-gutted building might possibly collapse.
