Announcement of extension of the Green Line is expected to influence property prices.
News of the development of the mass transit network encourages investors and developers to get on board to reap the benefits of rising property prices. Opening up new areas with a reliable means to get around the city as opposed to the unpredictable travel time by car. The extension of the BTS Sukhumvit Line, also known as the Green Line, is no different.
Currently this line is operational from Mo Chit in the north of the city and runs to Bearing. However, on 1 April 2017 BTS Samrong will open becoming the new end of the line past Bearing.
Having been in the pipeline for sometime there could be a flurry of activity and increase in values around this new stretch. BTS Samrong will be situated at Sukhumvit Soi 80 and will the first station to have opened in five years. It will open up the Samut Prakan province to the rest of Bangkok for those keen to take advantage of this efficient transport network. Additionally rides will be free for anyone using this stretch from Bearing to Samrong until 2018.
The remainder of the Green Line extension may not be operational for a further two years. This is due to a lack of funding despite construction being completed. Just the electrical and communication systems are left to be put in place. After BTS Samrong, the next stops will be Pu Chao Saming Prai, Erawan Museum, Navy Academy, Samut Prakan City Hall, Srinakarindra, Phrak Sa, Sai Luad before the Green Line terminates at the Kheha Samut Prakan housing projects. The terminus station will include a car parking area to hold up to 1,200 vehicles.
