Bangkok, one of the world’s fastest growing mega-cities will be improving its skyline this year with six new luxury sky rises located along the famous Chao Phraya River. The new projects will be worth a combined total of 50 billion baht and will extend up to five kilometres along the river, where a number of luxury Bangkok condo buildings and shopping malls already exist.
The six projects are coming to Bangkok at a time where the city is experiencing strong growth than ever before. Since 2000, Thailand has grown by 45% and is showing no signs of slowing down. Transitioning away from its status of a developing country, over the past decade Thailand has been offering more professional opportunities to both nationals and foreigners, and Bangkok specifically has been growing its luxury market.
The new projects that will transform Bangkok’s skyline cater toward that growing luxury market, as each property will offer unobstructed views of the river. Building next to a park or body of water is a key component to building a luxury property that will maintain its view, which demonstrates that Bangkok property developers are thinking strategically about not only the growth of the population but the economy as well.
The properties will include mixed-use properties, hotels and condos, all of which will be in highly accessible areas within easy distances to nearby high-end shopping malls. The largest project will take up 60% of the overall cost to build all six projects, consisting of hotel, retail, residential properties and involving three corporate giants including Siam Paragon, Siam Piwat and Magnolia Quality Development Corporation.
