From majestic waterfalls to strawberry farms, Mae Rim is an ideal to explore when in Chiang Mai. Located northwest of the city centre, the district is most well-known for being home to Doi Suthep–Pui National Park, but this stunning region has several other destinations of note. Here are five must visit places in Mae Rim you’ll want to check out the next time you’re in Chiang Mai.
Tat Mok Waterfall – While Mae Sa Waterfall is the more popular waterfall, Tat Mok Waterfall is far more impressive. It is also less crowded although both spots can get busy on weekends and during high season. Located on the northern edges of Doi Suthep–Pui National Park, Tat Mok Waterfall is easily accessible should you take the scenic route to Moncham.
Sukantara Cascade Resort & Spa – Whether you are looking for a place to spend a couple of days or want to have a lovely lunch or dinner overlooking a waterfall, Sukantara Cascade Resort & Spa can’t be beat. The property is one of the few hotels in the world where you can wake up, walk out your door and put your feet in cascades. You can also enjoy a Thai Kantoke dinner overlooking the lush scenery and enjoy some delicious homemade cakes.
Eagle Track Zipline – If you’re looking for a little adventure, nothing tops ziplining above the Mae Rim forest. The track itself is pretty impressive with a spiral staircase, hill tribe ladder, kung fu walk, zig-zag walk way and a monkey bridge among the obstacles you’ll encounter on your journey. A number of different packages are available at Eagle Track Zipline, so you can pick the day out that suits you best.
Di Bosco Coffee Specialist – Arguably the best coffee in Mae Rim can be found at Di Bosco Coffee Specialist. The baristas are skilled in the fine art of espresso and the menu has all your favourite coffee drinks. However, if you are feeling a little adventurous, you can brew your own coffee using one of the shop’s various methods.
