Hua Hin and Cha-am Information.
Hua Hin is an original Thai beach resort located 220 kilometers south of Bangkok airport on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand. Unlike other areas of Thailand Hua Hin has not overgrown with bright lights and frantic all night action of cabarets and discotheques. If you enjoy walking there are some nice quiet winding streets full of interesting things to discover in this very friendly coastal town.
There is a good choice of delicious fresh seafood restaurants overlooking the sea set out on wooden piers and overlooking the fishing boat harbor. If this is not enough then there are restaurants from every nationality easily at hand, plus the normal fast international food outlets that you would find where ever you go.
View some of the original architecture like the classic colonial style Royal Waiting Room at the old Railway Station, the Thai kings palace, the local old part of Hua Hin town with the shops with handicrafts, silver, silk, tailors and open night market brings a natural village feel to the town. Then you have the modern side of Hua Hin with the new Market village filled with shops, cinema and a ten pin bowling alley, new modern developments where the choice of property for sale is outstanding with something for everybody taste.
Hua Hin from the 1920's became the Thai people seaside resort with the introduction of the railway line and the first golf course, now Hua Hin has some great international courses where the green fees and caddy prices are much cheaper than other holiday destinations, at most of the courses there is something for the whole family to indulge in while the others play golf, in Hua Hin there are plenty of 5 star luxury resorts and international spa plus plenty of extremely comfortable guesthouses and hotels at reasonable prices.
The white sandy beaches stretch for kilometers with umbrellas for shade out of the hot Thai sunshine and beach activities like jet skis, sailing, power gliding, banana boats, vendors selling drinks and snacks, and even pony rides, and a treat of having a good Thai traditional massage.
Sightseeing in this area can keep you busy for days with the Kaeng Krachan National Park, marine national park, Khao Sam Roi Yot, caves, temples or just driving around the countryside.
Then we come to the Thai town of Cha-am, this is a smaller version of Hua Hin but becoming very popular with the tourists as it is 25 kilometers nearer to Bangkok but not as commercial.
This village bustles at the weekends and public holidays with the Thai people coming from Bangkok for their breaks, see them playing Thai games on the beach, join in the fun. Cha-am has some extremely good restaurants, good beaches with the same facilities as Hua Hin, good hotels and resorts and the village has a very friendly atmosphere.
If you like fishing Cha-am has some great fishing parks that are well stocked with some extremely big fish, they have tackle for hire and restaurants that do good food this makes for a great day out.
If you want the chance to experience the Thai culture, have a great holiday or relocate to a new country in a good location then Hua Hin and Cha-am are two destinations that you should consider.
